Major League Rugby is a professional USA league that began in 2018 and has teams in the U.S. and in Canada. Current MLR teams include Austin Elite Rugby, Glendale Raptors, Houston SaberCats, New Orleans Gold, Rugby United New York, San Diego Legion, Seattle Seawolves, Toronto Arrows, and the Utah Warriors. In 2020, teams in Atlanta, New England, and Washington, D.C. will join the league and have exhibition matches in 2019.

Rugby United New York defeated the Utah Warriors 24-22 on April 20. Frikkie is from South Africa and currently lives in Chicago, Illinois. He attended Hoërskool Brits, graduating in 2009. He then attended North-West University Potchefstroom from 2011-2014, playing rugby for the Barbarians at the University. He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Science. The Houston SaberCats opened their new rugby dedicated Aveva Stadium on April 13 against the Seattle Seawolves. The result was not want the SaberCats nor their fans wanted with the Seawolves departing with a 52-10 win. Houston has a 2-7 record and is in seventh place with 11 points. Seattle moved to second place with a 7-3 record with 37 points. They are trying to keep pace with the top teams to ensure making the playoffs after the regular season.
