Major League Rugby is a professional USA league that began in 2018 and has teams in the U.S. and in Canada. Current MLR teams include Austin Elite Rugby, Glendale Raptors, Houston SaberCats, New Orleans Gold, Rugby United New York, San Diego Legion, Seattle Seawolves, Toronto Arrows, and the Utah Warriors. In 2020, teams in Atlanta, New England, and Washington, D.C. will join the league and have exhibition matches in 2019.

It is assumed that the Free Jacks received salary cap compensation as they had obtained his signing rights in the 2022 MLR dispersal draft. The Chicago Hounds signed Bryce Campbell, for the 2023 Major League Rugby season after obtaining his signing rights in the 2022 MLR dispersal draft. The 28-year-old center is 6’2″ and 235 lbs. Bryce played 1136 minutes in 15 starts and scored 2 tries for Austin Gligronis in 2022. He ran for 901 meters on 119 carries with three clean line breaks and 17 total defenders beaten and made 144 tackles with 11 dominant tackles. The Gilgronis ended the year with a 12-4 record. This announcement comes five days after his retirement from playing international sevens for New Zealand after the 2022 HSBC Sevens Series Dubai Sevens. The Dallas Jackals received the playing services rights to James Vaifale and NOLA’s 3rd Round Pick in the 2023 MLR Collegiate Draft. James had been drafted by the Chicago Hounds in the 2022 MLR dispersal draft but was not signed, so his signing rights reverted back to NOLA Gold. Chicago Hounds Release The Chicago Hounds confirmed that Sam Harris has been hired as the first head coach in the franchise’s history. The team first announced the signing during their introductory press conference in November. Harris, 42, spent the previous two seasons as the Austin Gilgronis’ (AGs) head coach.
