Men’s College Rugby has four levels, D1A, D1-AA, DII and NSCRO. Championships are held in each of these divisions in rugby 15s and in the later 3 divisions in sevens.

The University of Texas Men’s Rugby named Connally McKay as Head Coach. The 38-year-old is 6’1″ and 220 lbs. Connally is from Victoria, Texas and moved to Austin in 2006. He attended Victoria High School, where he played football and golf. He then attended Baylor University in 2000 and was introduced to rugby and has played it since then. His first season at Baylor, the team win the National Division II Championship. In 2005 he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in History. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – December 10, 2018 – The National Small College Rugby Organization (NSCRO) has released the final regular season men’s rugby 15s Top 30 Coaches Poll.  [NSCRO Release] The top squad is Christendom College (Front Royal, Virginia), which finished the season with a 9-0 record and received five first place votes. Dartmouth & Harvard Women’s Rugby Dartmouth women’s Rugby team won the 2019 NIRA National Championship, 19-14 over Harvard. It was the first NIRA Championship title in the program’s history. Harvard had the first scoring opportunity in the first minute, but Dartmouth would score first with a try by freshman Ariana Ramsey for a 5-0 lead. NIRA Semi-Finals: Harvard vs Quinnipiac Following Dartmouth’s 26-7 victory over Army, Harvard faced Quinnipiac in the second NIRA Semi-final at Dartmouth College Scully-Fahey Field in Hanover, New Hampshire. Harvard struck first with a try by Jenny Kronish in the 5th minute for a 5-0 lead. Senior Caitlyn Weigel added a try to push the lead to 12-0 after a Kronish conversion. NIRA Tier ONE Championship: Army, Dartmouth, Harvard, Quinnipiac The National Intercollegiate Rugby Association (NIRA) Tier One Championship will be held this weekend, November 16-18. Last weekend Mount St. Mary’s won the Tier Two Title 22-15 over Sacred Heart. The Tier One Championship will have semi-final matches between Army versus Dartmouth and Harvard against Quinnipiac. USA Rugby College Nationals The USA Rugby 2018 Men’s D1AA  and Women’s D1 and D2 Fall Championships and the Men’s D2 National Championship brackets have been finalized. The playoffs will begin November 17-18 with the Round of 16 and Quarterfinal fixtures for Men and Women’s D2,  and quarterfinals and semifinals for Men’s D1AA and Women’s D1 being held at Vassar College, East Carolina University and Mount St. Mary’s. New England College Women’s Rugby On July 11, 2018, Lou Izzi, Director of Athletics at New England College, announced the addition of varsity women’s rugby as the school’s ninth women’s sports offering. The women’s rugby team will begin competition in the fall of 2019.  A national search for the program’s first full-time head coach was conducted and Tom Campbell was hired as the College’s first-ever women’s rugby head coach. Louisville vs. Tennessee Rugby The University of Louisville hosted the University of Tennessee Men’s Rugby Club on Saturday, September 1 in the first match of the season. Tennessee snatched the win in the closing seconds with a try for a 24-20 win. The Louisville Cardinals finished their 2017 Mid America Rugby Conference in third place and head coach Emil Walton hopes to improve upon that this season. Iona College Rugby vs. UMass Iona College Men’s Rugby hosted UMass in the opening match of the D1A Rugby 2018-2019 season in New Rochelle, NY last night winning 59-15. The match was broadcast on ESPN+. Iona College starters include 5 freshmen, 1 transfer and 1 player at a new position. Two additional freshmen were replacements.
