Iona College Rugby Edged by Army on ESPN3 Army West Point Men’s Rugby team defeated Iona 17-13 before a large homecoming crowd at Mazzella Field in New Rochelle, N.Y. The match was streamed on ESPN3. The Black Knights record is now 4-1, 3-1 in Rugby East, while Iona suffered their first loss and are now 7-1, 4-0 in Liberty, after claiming the Liberty I-95 division last weekend. Seattle Seawolves & Olive Kilifi The Seattle Seawolves signed USA Rugby Men’s Eagles prop Olive Kilifi, where he will be joined in the front row by his former Sacramento Express team-mate, Ray Barkwill. Kilifi was born in Huntington Beach, California and resides in Seattle, Washington. He went to Tyee High School in Seatac, Washington, where he played center and later prop. Ray Barkwill was born in Niagara Falls, Ontario and began playing rugby at Westlane Secondary School along with Niagara Wasp RFC of Rugby Ontario’s Senior Men’s League. He went on to play for the Niagara Thunder while continuing his education at Brock University in Ontario. Iona College Rugby Football Club traveled to Newark, Delaware to face the Blue Hens of the University of Delaware in a Liberty D1A, I-95 match Saturday, October 7. The match featured the top two teams in the Conference, with Iona having a 3-0 record, while Delaware was 2-1. Iona College was aggressive with their attack scoring 50 first half points, with the final score 81-0 over Delaware.
