Major League Rugby is a professional USA league that began in 2018 and has teams in the U.S. and in Canada. Current MLR teams include Austin Elite Rugby, Glendale Raptors, Houston SaberCats, New Orleans Gold, Rugby United New York, San Diego Legion, Seattle Seawolves, Toronto Arrows, and the Utah Warriors. In 2020, teams in Atlanta, New England, and Washington, D.C. will join the league and have exhibition matches in 2019.

Glendale Raptors & Hanco Germishuys The Glendale Raptors signed Hanco Germishuys for the 2019 Major League Rugby season. The 22-year-old back row is 6’2″, and 224 pounds. Hanco was born in Kimberly, Northern Cape, South Africa and attended Newton School. He began playing rugby at a young age and moved to Omaha, Nebraska with his father in 2004. Glendale Raptors & Malon Al-Jiboori The Glendale Raptors signed Malon Al-Jiboori for the 2019 and 2020 Major League Rugby seasons. Malon is 21-years-old, 6’3″, and 240 pounds. Free Jacks vs. Rugby United New York The New England Free Jacks played their first exhibition season home match on December 1, 2018, against Rugby United New York at Union Point Sports Complex in Weymouth, Massachusetts. RUNY emerged with a 38-35 win in the closing minutes. The exhibition match was played in four quarters with RUNY having a 7-0 lead at the end of quarter one and tied 14 all at halftime. San Diego Legion & Anthony Salaber Retraction: New information has surfaced that Anthony Salaber will not be joining the San Diego Legion or any other Major League Rugby team in 2019. He enjoyed his MLR experience in 2018 but has applied to Law School in Sacramento for 2019.
