Major League Rugby is a professional USA league that began in 2018 and has teams in the U.S. and in Canada. Current MLR teams include Austin Elite Rugby, Glendale Raptors, Houston SaberCats, New Orleans Gold, Rugby United New York, San Diego Legion, Seattle Seawolves, Toronto Arrows, and the Utah Warriors. In 2020, teams in Atlanta, New England, and Washington, D.C. will join the league and have exhibition matches in 2019.

New England Free Jacks have utilized Erik Thompson in the 2018 exhibition season. The 23-year-old scrumhalf is 5’10” and 177 lbs. Erik played all three of the team’s exhibition season matches against the Ontario Arrows, Rugby United New York, and most recently against the Utah Warriors as captain. The Glendale Raptors defeated the Toronto Arrows 22-0 in their 2019 Major League Rugby home opener on Saturday, March 2, 2019, at Infinity Park. The match was played in a snowstorm and in frigid conditions. With the win, the Glendale Raptors record improved to 2-2-1 record, while the Toronto Arrows record fell to 2-3.
