Major League Rugby is a professional USA league that began in 2018 and has teams in the U.S. and in Canada. Current MLR teams include Austin Elite Rugby, Glendale Raptors, Houston SaberCats, New Orleans Gold, Rugby United New York, San Diego Legion, Seattle Seawolves, Toronto Arrows, and the Utah Warriors. In 2020, teams in Atlanta, New England, and Washington, D.C. will join the league and have exhibition matches in 2019.

The Seattle Seawolves announced the signing of Melbourne Rebels’ tighthead prop, Tim Metcher. He is 27 years old, is 5’10” tall and weighs 249 pounds. Seattle Seawolves & Mike Garrity The Seattle Seawolves sign Seattle Saracen and Colorado State University graduate, Mike Garrity. He is 29 years old, 6’2″ tall, and 225 pounds. Ryan Matyas became the face of the San Diego Legion team when he modeled the X-Blades Major League Rugby team Uniform. Matyas is an Eagles XV (#486) and 7s player, who is 27 years old, 6’1″ tall, and weighs 195 pounds. Matyas is from Tucson, Arizona and graduated from Tucson High School. With the win, the team’s record improved to 7-2. Last week they narrowly lost to the Uruguay National Team, Los Teros, 32-24. The SaberCats began the pre-season against the Seattle Saracens, winning 50-7 on Jan. 6 and losing in the final minutes to the Vancouver Ravens 26-23.
