Major League Rugby is a professional USA league that began in 2018 and has teams in the U.S. and in Canada. Current MLR teams include Austin Elite Rugby, Glendale Raptors, Houston SaberCats, New Orleans Gold, Rugby United New York, San Diego Legion, Seattle Seawolves, Toronto Arrows, and the Utah Warriors. In 2020, teams in Atlanta, New England, and Washington, D.C. will join the league and have exhibition matches in 2019.

Seattle Seawolves & Hooker Mike Shepherd The Seattle Seawolves re-signed hooker Mike Shepherd for the 2019 Major League Rugby season.  He is 29-years-old and played after the end of the 2018 MLR Championship season with the Seattle Saracens in the BC Rugby Premier League. New Orleans Gold Rugby & Malcolm May New Orleans Gold Rugby Club signed Penn State Collegiate All-American flanker Malcolm May for the 2019 Major League Rugby season. The 22-years-old May is from Chicago, Illinois and went to St. Ignatius College Preparatory School. In high school, he played football as a running back and defensive end. Seattle Seawolves & Sequoyah Burke-Combs The Seattle Seawolves announced that Sequoyah Burke-Combs re-signed with the club for the 2019 Major League Rugby season. Glendale Raptors vs. Rugby Americas Selects The Rugby Americas Selects used a strong second half to defeat the Glendale Raptors 59-31 at Infinity Park on Saturday, October 27. The Montevideo, Uruguay native is 22-years-old, 5’7″, and 171 pounds. Arata went to Lycee Francais Jules Supervielle School through high school and played his club rugby with the Old Christians. Arata came up through the Uruguay age-grade system, playing for the Under-17s in 2013, the Under-19s in 2014, and the Under-20s in 2015 and 2016. Since signing with NOLA Gold in November 2017 (See Article below), the 27-year-old USA National team player has had an active 2018.
