Major League Rugby is a professional USA league that began in 2018 and has teams in the U.S. and in Canada. Current MLR teams include Austin Elite Rugby, Glendale Raptors, Houston SaberCats, New Orleans Gold, Rugby United New York, San Diego Legion, Seattle Seawolves, Toronto Arrows, and the Utah Warriors. In 2020, teams in Atlanta, New England, and Washington, D.C. will join the league and have exhibition matches in 2019.

The Dallas Jackals signed Jerónimo Gómez Vara for the 2023 Major League Rugby season. The 21-year-old flanker (22 in January) is  6’3″ and 225 lbs. The Argentinian back-row played with Atlético de Rosario and with San Patricio (Corrientes) in URBA.  He represented Argentina at the World Rugby Under-20s Championship and then captained the side last year against South Africa, Georgia, and Uruguay. The Seattle Seawolves signed Mason Pedersen for the 2023 Major League Rugby season after obtaining his signing rights in the 2022 MLR dispersal draft for Austin Gilgronis and LA Giltinis players. The 26-year-old prop is 6’1″ and 260 lbs. Mason played 679 minutes in 13 matches, starting 7, and scored 2 tries for the Austin Giilronis in 2022. He played 747 minutes in 15 games, starting 10, for the Gilgronis in 2021. San Diego Legion re-signed Dan Pryor for the 2023 Major League Rugby season. The 34-year-old back-row (35 in April) is 6’3″ and 230 lbs. Dan”s  younger brother Kara, plays with Rugby New York. After joining the Legion toward the end of the 2021 season, Dan played 97 minutes in two starts. His contributions increased in 2022, playing 863 minutes in 14 matches, starting 12 and scoring one try. NOLA Gold signed Jordan Trainor through the 2024 Major League Rugby season after acquiring his signing rights in the MLR dispersal draft of LA and Austin players. The 26-year-old fullback, who has played wing, (27 in January) is 6’1″ and 195 lbs. Jordan played 970 minutes in his 13 starts, scored 3 tries, and carried for 804 meters for the LA Giltinis in 2022. Rugby New York re-signed Ishmail Shabazz for the 2023 Major League Rugby season. The 25-year-old wing is 5’10” and 215 lbs.  Ishmail played 128 minutes in 3 matches, starting twice for Rugby New York in 2022. He also played in the Premier Rugby Sevens this Summer with the Headliners and this Fall with New York Athletic Club in the American Rugby Premiership. The Utah Warriors signed Jonah Dietenberger after obtaining his signing rights from San Diego Legion in exchange for the rights to Mikey Te’o for the 2023 Major League Rugby season.
