Major League Rugby is a professional USA league that began in 2018 and has teams in the U.S. and in Canada. Current MLR teams include Austin Elite Rugby, Glendale Raptors, Houston SaberCats, New Orleans Gold, Rugby United New York, San Diego Legion, Seattle Seawolves, Toronto Arrows, and the Utah Warriors. In 2020, teams in Atlanta, New England, and Washington, D.C. will join the league and have exhibition matches in 2019.

The Houston SaberCats signed Moa Maliepo for the 2021 Major League Rugby season. The 24-year-old center (25 in May) is 6’1″ and 211 lbs. Moa was born in New Zealand and played rugby for Parramatta Two Blues before transferring to CSM București in 2015 through 2019 after the Two Blues dissolved. He made 24 appearances with the Romanian Club and scored six tries. The team won the Romanian Cup in 2018 and 2019. The Houston SaberCats signed Nikoloz Khatiashvili for the 2021 Major League Rugby season. The 28-year-old tighthead prop (29 in May) is 5’10” and 260 lbs. He also gives the team versatility as he played loosehead prop with Enisei-STM last season. Nikoloz is from Tbilisi, Georgia, and attended Saint Joseph Saint Eugène. He played rugby for Stade Aurillac Cantal Auvergne in the French Pro D2 league from 2014-2017, making 41 appearances. Steve Cohen, current CEO and founder of National Small College Rugby Organization (NSCRO) will be focusing his time on strategic programming for the organization.
