Major League Rugby is a professional USA league that began in 2018 and has teams in the U.S. and in Canada. Current MLR teams include Austin Elite Rugby, Glendale Raptors, Houston SaberCats, New Orleans Gold, Rugby United New York, San Diego Legion, Seattle Seawolves, Toronto Arrows, and the Utah Warriors. In 2020, teams in Atlanta, New England, and Washington, D.C. will join the league and have exhibition matches in 2019.

The New England Free Jacks signed Vili Toluta’u for the 2021 Major League Rugby season according to the Maui News. The 27-years-old hooker/flanker is 6’0″ and 250 lbs. Vili played three seasons with the Seattle Seawolves and was the 2018 MLP in the Shield Final. In 2020 he played 197 minutes in all five matches, starting twice, and scoring a try in the Covid-19 shortened MLR season. Les was scheduled to make his Seawolves debut in 2020, however, the league shut down due to Covid-19 derailed this. The Seattle Seawolves signed Obert Nortje for the 2021 Major League Rugby (MLR) season. The 23-year-old Namibian hooker (24 in April) is 5’11” and 226 lbs. Obert is from Windhoek, Namibia. He attended Windhoek High School, graduated in 2015, and played rugby. He attended the University of Namibia from 2016-2019, pursuing an honours degree. In 2016 and 2017 he represented Namibia in the U20 World Rugby Trophy competitions. In 2017 he made his senior national team debut for the Welwichias against Senegal on 8 July. San Diego Legion signed Carlo De Nysschen for the 2021 Major League Rugby season. The 24-year-old scrumhalf from Pretoria, South Africa is 5’10” and 190 lbs. Carlo was drafted in the MLR Dallas Jackals dispersal draft after the Dallas entry into the league was postponed until 2022. Seattle Seawolves signed Washington Athletic Club 7s and former Dallas Jackals draftee, Tommy Clark for the 2021 Major League Rugby (MLR) season. The 23-year-old flanker/No.8 (24 in May) is 6’4″ and 235 lbs. Tommy was a free agent signing for the Seawolves after the Dallas Jackals postponed their MLR debut until 2022. Logan is from Fagasa, American Samoa, and attended Samoana High School in Pago Pago.
