The USA Rugby Women’s Falcons return to Okinawa for the 2018 Okinawa Sevens tournament, Feb. 23-24. Last year’s team went undefeated and look to defend their title this year. The developmental squad is lead by San Diego Surfer Sevens Head Coach Jarrod Faul and will have the two Women’s Eagles Sevens players in Kate Zackary and Kelsi Stockert. The team will face Japan A, Fiji, and Russia in the competition. Sudamérica Sevens Series & Viña del Mar The Sudamérica Sevens Series began last weekend at Punte del Este, Uruguay.The series resumes this weekend at the 2018 Viña del Mar 7s in Chile. Chile, Colombia, Uruguay, Paraguay, and Brazil are the teams competing for the final two spots at the Rugby World Cup Sevens in July at San Francisco in the Men’s competition, while also booking a place at the Hong Kong Sevens in April. Rugby Barbados World 7s Barbados will host the Rugby Barbados World 7s for the second straight year on December 9-10, 2017. The tournament will be played at Trents Playing Field, Holetown, St. James, Barbados. Previously the tournament was hosted by Tobago. The tournament includes a men’s and a women’s open division with teams from Barbados, the USA, Trinidad, and Tobago, St. Lucia and Guadeloupe participating in this year’s Tournament. On Saturday, November 25, 2017, the first Pelham High School Alumni team took part in the famous NY7s tournament in New York City. The team was formed of freshman, sophomores and one senior in college. Eagles 7s vs. Australia – Silicon Valley Sevens The Eagles lost a heartbreaker to Australia 15-12 in the closing minute of the Silicon Valley 7s. Australia now has won the Oktoberfest 7s, the Central Coast 7s, and the Silicon Valley 7s. To advance to the Cup Final, the Eagles 7s defeated England 27-0, while Australia beat Chile 27-0.
