Old Glory DC signed Kevin Brou for the 2024 Major League Rugby season. The 30-year-old tighthead prop, who has also played hooker, is 5’11” and 260 lbs.
Kevin was born in New York, grew up in Atlanta, Georgia, and attended Georgian Southern University from 2011-2013, majoring in Business Administration. He transferred to the University of Memphis in 2013 and played football there. He majored in Marketing/Business Administration and Management and finished in 2016.
When he was 21, he left the United States where he was reunited with his mother in the Ivory Coast. He began playing rugby and has played for the Ivory Coast National Team, Elephants, earning 7 caps. He is listed as joining the National Team in 2015. In 2018 he played hooker in the Africa Cup and played for the team in the 2021 Rugby World Cup qualifiers.
Although he was born in the United States and won’t need a visa, he must not play for the Ivory Coast National Team for three years if he is to be USA-eligible to play rugby. Bryan Ray @raysrugby on Twitter and of American Rugby News indicated on Twitter that “He represented the Ivory Coast during World Cup Qualifiers in July 2021, so therefore won’t be eligible to use the Union Transfer regulation until July 2024.”
Kevin played professionally for Stade Nantais in two matches from 2016-2018. He played for Sporting Club Graulhétois in 2018-2019 in the Federale 1 in France and then for ASV Lavaur in 2019-2020 and for Rennes Etudiants Club in 2020-2021.
He moved to the French Nationale Division in 2021-2022, playing with Stade Dijonnais, where he played 554 minutes in 18 matches, starting 4. In 2022-2023 he played 202 minutes in 7 matches, starting 3, for Sporting Club Albigeois.
