The Dallas Jackals signed Anelisa ‘Ani’ Mteto for the 2024 Major League Rugby season. The 28-year-old wing/fullback is 6’1″, 210 lbs, and is now US-eligible on residency.
Ani signed with NOLA Gold last season but did not make any regular season appearances. He played with the NOLA Gold’s Academy team in the Fall 2022 American Rugby Premiership.
Ani is from Port Elizabeth, South Africa. He graduated from Kingswood College in 2013. He played for the Western Province U21s before attending Iowa Central Community College from 2017-2018 and then transferring to Lindenwood University in 2018 and graduating in 2022. He played rugby at all three institutions and also played with the Kansas City Blues and St Louis Bombers in USA Club Sevens Nationals and with Dallas RFC at the Freetail 7s.
