Seattle Seawolves Signs Mahonri Ngakuru

The Seattle Seawolves signed Mahonri Ngakuru for the 2024 Major League Rugby season. The 23-year-old lock (24 in January) is 6’6″ and 262 lbs.

Mahonri was born in New Zealand, and his heritage is Māori/Tongan. He attended Papamoa College before going to Saint Kentigern College in 2017. He played junior rugby for the Sunnybank Dragons, Brisbane, Coomera Crushes, Gold Coast Arataki U12s, and the Papamoa U13s. and Senior rugby for the Burnside Bombers.

He was a member of the Crusaders Development Program in 2020 and was a trialist for the New Zealand U20s. In 2021 and 2022 he played in the NPC for the Tasman Mako and in 2023 for North Harbour and has played in 23 NPC matches. In 2022 and 2023 he played Super Rugby for Moana Pasifika, making 10 appearances.
