Old Glory DC Signs Ethan McVeigh

Old Glory DC signed Ethan McVeigh for the 2024 Major League Rugby season. The 23-year-old scrumhalf  (24 in December) is 5’9″ and 200 lbs.

Ethan played 292 minutes in 10 matches, starting 3, and scored 2 tries for the American Raptors during the 2023 Super Rugby Americas season.

Ethan played 345 minutes in 9 matches, starting 4, and scored 2 tries for San Diego Legion in 2021. He then returned to Cardiff Metropolitan University to complete his Bachelor’s Degree before joining the American Raptors in the Fall of 2022. He played for the USA Falcons on their Uruguay 2022 tour in October to play Uruguay and Argentina XV.

Ethan grew up in San Carlos, California, a San Diego suburb. He began playing rugby with the OMBAC (Old Mission Beach Athletic Club) Wallabies around age 9 and was a San Carlos Little League All-Star in 2010.

Ethan attended St. Augustine High School and helped the rugby team with the Southern California Red Division with a 9-2 record in 2018. This gained the group the number 1 seed for the playoffs. The team advanced to the final loss to Bosco.

Ethan attended numerous EIRA camps and was selected for the 2017 Boys High School All-Americans. He toured with the team in beating British Columbia in two matches and went to France with the team to play in Rugby Europe’s U18s European Championship.

in 2018 he was honored with the Mark Loane Award for the High School Player of the Year.

Ethan attended many Nike Rugby Camps in San Diego and in 2018 was selected for the USA U20s in the World Rugby Trophy Qualifier against Canada. He also attended Cardiff Metropolitan University in 2018 and played with Cardiff met RFC where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sports Business and Management.
