New England Free Jacks Gabe Casey

The New England Free Jacks signed Gabriel Casey, their first-round pick (#13) in the 2023 MLR Collegiate Draft, for the 2024 Major League Rugby season. The 24-year-old center is 6’3″ and 205 lbs.

Gabe is from Ottawa, Ontario, and played rugby for the Bytown Blues, as well as age-grade rugby for Canada. He played for the Under-18s in 2017, the Under-20s in both 2018 and 2019 at the World Rugby Trophy competition, and in 2022 for Canada West Selects in the Coast to Coast Cup in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He also played for Canada A against Brazil and Chile A in Uruguay. During the Summer he earned his first international cap for Canada after playing against Tonga. He also has been selected for the team’s two-match November tour to Spain in the La Vila International Rugby Cup.

Gabe attended the University of Victoria from 2017 through his graduation with a Bachelor’s Degree in Entrepreneurship in 2022. He helped the UVics win the 2010 Canadian Universities Men’s Rugby Championship and was a Bronze Medalist in 2018 and a Silver in 2021.
