The Utah Warriors re-signed Takaji Young Yen for the 2024 Major League Rugby season. The 24-year-old tighthead prop was born in Utah and grew up in Māngere, New Zealand.
Takaji played 29 minutes in one match for the Utah Warriors in 2023. He made his USA National Team debut against Romania in the Rugby World Cup Qualifier Tournament and then played in the win against Stade Toulousain.
Takaji attended Kings College and played rugby for the team’s 1st XV. In 2015 he was a member of the Blues Under-18s development squad and also played for New Zealand Secondary Schools.
Takaji attends the University of Auckland – Waipapa Taumata Rau and plays rugby for the University, as well as for Auckland B’s wider training group. In 2021 he played two matches for New Zealand Universities.
TKiwiiwi prop started all 4 games for the Provo Trappers, who won this year’s Crossroads Cup.
