Chicago Hounds Signs Ben Landry

The Chicago Hounds signed Ben Landry for the 2024 season of Major League Rugby. The 32-year-old lock/flanker (33 in March) is 6’6″ and 260 lbs.

Ben played 16 matches for the Seattle Seawolves in 2023. He played 777 minutes in 11 starts for the Seawolves in 2022. He joined the Seawolves during the 2021 season and played 420 minutes in 7 matches, starting 4.

In 2020, he joined the New England Free Jacks and played 56 minutes as a starter in one match. In 2018 he played 255 minutes in 4 starts for the Glendale Raptors and scored one try.

Ben is from Pewaukee, Wisconsin, and attended Pewaukee High School and played rugby, football, and basketball. He attended the University of Wisconsin- Platteville for a year before transferring to the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater where he focused on rugby and earned Collegiate All-American honors.

Ben played for the USA Rugby U20s, Men’s XV Selects, and the Men’s National Team in 2016. Eagle no. 471 made his debut for the USA National Team against Canada in the 2016 American Rugby Championship on February 13. He played in 2019 at the Pacific Nation’s Cup and the last of his 25 caps was against Tonga on October 13 at the 2019 Rugby World Cup. He also played with the Barbarians in November 2019 against Brazil.

Ben played for the Denver Stampede in the now-defunct PRO Rugby league and also has played for the Seattle Saracens. In 2018 he played Major League Rugby with the Glendale Raptors before signing with the Ealing Trailfinders for 2018-2019. He also was signed to play football in the National Football League in 2016.
