The Miami Sharks signed Tomás Casares for the 2024 Major League Rugby season after selecting him 8th in the MLR Expansion Draft. The 24-year-old flanker (25 in April) is 6’4″ and 235 lbs.

Tomás was signed by the New England Free Jacks for the 2023 MLR season after being selected in the 2022 MLR Collegiate Draft. After the conclusion of the MLR season, he joined Manawatu in New Zealand as a Development player.

Tomás is from Pacheco, a Buenos Aires suburb in Argentina. He is eligible to play rugby for the United States since his father was born in Delaware.

He attended St. Philip Apostol College, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Natural Science in 2016. He studied English and literature while on a rugby exchange in New Zealand. He played rugby with Auckland Under-19s and also in the Auckland Premier Club competition. Tomás was a National Collegiate Rugby D2 All-American at Thomas More, and in Argentina played with the Jaguares in age-grade rugby. His performance at the 2022 Collegiate Rugby Shield Competition led to his being drafted and signed by the New England Free Jacks.
