Dallas Jackals Re-Signs Jeronimo Gomez Vara

The Dallas Jackals re-signed Jerónimo Gómez Vara for the 2024 Major League Rugby season. The 22-year-old flanker (23 in January) is  6’3″ and 225 lbs.

Jerónimo Gómez Vara played 1288 minutes in 16 starts, scored five tries, ranked second on the team in ball carries with 108, and was the captain for the Dallas Jackals in 2022. He then returned to play with Atlético de Rosario for 2023.

The Argentinian back-row played with Atlético de Rosario and with San Patricio (Corrientes) in URBA. 

He represented Argentina at the World Rugby Under-20s Championship and then captained the side last year against South Africa, Georgia, and Uruguay. In 2021 he also played for the Argentina XV squad for the Americas Pacific Challenge.

In 2022 he played with the Jaguares XV in the 2022 Súper Liga Americana de Rugby (SLAR) season.

Dallas Jackals Comments

The team’s 2023 captain started every match, displaying leadership, skill, and determination.

Dallas Jackals General Manager Santiago Sodini said, “Gomez Vara’s ability to deliver in critical moments impressed us and we believe he is important to the growth of our organization on and off the pitch.”

The Corrientes, ARG native was named to the Honorable Mention starting XV on Major League Rugby’s all-MLR teams on Jul. 18.
