Toronto Arrows Adds Matt Fish

Toronto Arrows added Matt Fish for the remainder of the 2023 Major League Rugby season. The 25-year-old No.8 is 6’3″ and 255 lbs.

Matt is from Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, and attended Waterloo Collegiate Institute from 2012 through his graduation in 2015. In high school, he was a member of the varsity rugby, football, and Nordic ski teams.

In 2015 he played rugby on the Ontario Junior Blue Under-18s Sevens team which won the New York 7s and finished in the top 4 at the Las Vegas Invitational 7s. He also played 15s for the Rugby Ontario Junior Provincial West 15s.

He attended Wilfrid Laurier University from 2016 through his graduation in 2021 with dual Bachelor’s Degrees in Computer Science, as well as in Business Administration and Marketing. He had numerous awards while there, the OUA Academic Achievement Award in 2016 through 2019, and in 2020-2021 was a U Sports Academic All-Canadian. In rugby, he was a 2018 OUA Men’s Rugby First Team All-Star, earned a 2018 OUA bronze medal, was the Wilfrid Laurier Team Rookie of the Year in 2016-2017, MVP in 2019-2020, and the team’s captain his last year at the university.

Matt played for the 2019 Canadian All-Stars against the USA Rugby Eastern Collegiate All-Americans in Glendale, Colorado. He played for the Arrows XV at the Rugby Rally in 2021, played for the Young  Arrows in 2022, as well as was a graduate of the Arrows Academy Program.

He has also played club rugby for Waterloo County.
