Miami Sharks Signs Tomas Cubelli

The Miami Sharks announced that Tomás Cubilli is the first player to sign with the team, which will join Major League Rugby in 2024. They also announced this week that former Argentina Under-20s coach Jose Pellicena was the team’s head coach.

He is also the first MLR player to be announced for 2024, with the length of his contract unspecified. The 33-year-old scrumhalf, who has 89 caps for Argentina, (34 in June) is 5’9″ and 175 lbs.

Tomás is from Buenas Aires, Argentina, and played rugby with Belgrano Athletic Club, as well as for Argentina Under-19s and Under-20s, Argentina XV, and made his debut for Argentina in 2010. He also played in the 2015 and 2019 Rugby World Cups, making the semi-finals in 2015. He is also part of the  Argentina preliminary squad for consideration for the 2023 Rugby World Cup.

He played with Pampas XV in the Vodacom Cup and in the World Rugby Pacific Challenge. He played Super Rugby with the ACT Brumbies and with Western Force. He also played with the Jaguares and for the last two years with Biarritz in the French Top 14 and Pro D2 league.
