Rugby New York signed Doyle Hedgepeth, their 2022 MLR Collegiate Draft first-round selection, 13th overall, as part of the extended squad for the 2023 Major League Rugby season. The 23-year-old loosehead prop is 6’0″ and 245 lbs.
Doyle is from Greenville, South Carolina, and played high school rugby with South Greenville RFC, winning the South Carolina State Championship in 2018.
Doyle attended the Queen’s University of Charlotte from 2018 through his graduation with a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise and Sports Science in 2022. He played rugby in the 2018 Mid-South Independent League Championship, for USA Rugby South, was a National Collegiate Rugby Division 1 All-American in 2021, and was selected to the USA Under-23s in both 2021 and 2022. He toured with the U23s in Amsterdam in July 2022, playing against the Netherlands, Belgium, Czech Republic, and Canada.
Doyle is a mobile prop having also played at center for the Queen’s University of Charlotte.
