The Dallas Jackals signed Ethan Hager, a first-round pick in the 2022 MLR Collegiate draft, for the 2023 Major League Rugby season. The 24-year-old wing is 6’2″ and 200 lbs.
Ethan is from Brantford, Ontario, and graduated from the Brantford Collegiate Institute in 20217 and began playing rugby his freshman year.
He enrolled at the University of Victoria in 2017 and graduated in 2022 with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Entrepreneurial Studies. In 2017 and 2018 he played rugby for the Canadian Maple Leafs 7s team and was a 2018-2019 Canadian Universities National Bronze Medalist. In 2019 the UViks won the Canadian Universities Men’s Rugby Championship over UBC, and he was also honored as a 2019 Canadian Universities All-Star and for the Canadian FISU 7s. In 2021 he was named to the Canadian Universities XVs team.
Ethan was exposed to MLR in 2019 when he played for the Ontario Blues against Old Glory DC during the OGs exhibition season. He also has played for Canada West.
