New England Free Jacks Signs Tomas Casares

The New England Free Jacks signed Tomás Casares for the 2023 Major League Rugby season. The 23-year-old No.8/lock (24 in April) is 6’4″ and 235 lbs.

Tomás is from Pacheco, a Buenos Aires suburb in Argentina. He is eligible to play rugby for the United States since his father was born in Delaware.

He attended St. Philip Apostol College, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Natural Science in 2016. He studied English and literature while on a rugby exchange in New Zealand. He played rugby with Auckland Under-19s and also in the Auckland Premier Club competition. He also earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Management in Sports Entities in 2021 before attending graduate school at Thomas More University from 2021 through 2022, earning an MBA.

Tomás was a National Collegiate Rugby D2 All-American at Thomas More, and in Argentina played with the Jaguares in age-grade rugby. His performance at the 2022 Collegiate Rugby Shield Competition led to his being drafted and signed by the New England Free jacks.
