Old Glory DC re-signed David Beach for the 2023 Major League Rugby season. The 27-year-old lock is 6’7″ and 265 lbs.
David played 16 minutes in one match for Old Glory in 2022. He was loaned to the Utah Warriors and played 70 minutes in 3 matches, starting once.
David played during the preseason for Old Glory DC in 2021 but did not see any regular-season action.
David lives in Franklin, PA, and attended Franklin Area High School where he wrestled for the school team. He also played rugby for Presque Isle Rugby Football Club in Erie, PA. He attended Notre Dame College through the 2018-2019 season, played with Stars Rugby XV against the Capital Rugby Union Selects in 2019, and then for Mystic River Rugby Football Club.
According to the Old Glory DC release, “after playing for Mystic, Beach became committed to improving his own game, spending the past year adding almost 30 pounds of muscle training with former professional boxer George Linberger and Ty James in Ohio.”
Old Glory should be pleased that they can develop a domestic player of his stature. Look for him to spend time with one of the Division 1 clubs in the D.C. area and to develop and contribute to the team as the season progresses.
