NOLA Gold has Maciu Koroi returning for the second year of a two-year contract that goes through the 2023 Major League Rugby season. The 27-year-old No.8 (28 in February) is 6’2″, 250 lbs, and is from Suva, Fiji.
Maciu played 498 minutes in 13 matches, starting 4, for NOLA Gold in 2022. He also played for the team’s Academy side in the Fall American Rugby Premiership.
During the 2020 MLR season, he was named to the matchday roster for Rugby ATL against NOLA Gold but did not play. He has also played with Atlanta Old White.
Maciu began playing rugby when he was eight years old and attended Queen Victoria School in Fiji. He moved to Sacramento, California, and attended Sacramento City College from 2014-2015. He then enrolled at Life University in Business Administration and was part of two National Championship teams in 2016 and in 2018.
Maciu played with the USA Men’s Under-20s XVs National Team and the 1st team Collegiate All-American team in 2018. He also appeared with the Falcons on several occasions. In 2019 he traveled with the Falcons to South America and won the Las Vegas Invitational. He also is a member of the USA Sevens player pool.
