Houston SaberCats Re-Signs Trace Bolstad

The Houston SaberCats re-signed Trace Bolstad for the 2023 MLR season. The 28-year-old fly-half is 6’2″, 190 lbs, and is from Hopkins, Minnesota.

Trace played 37 minutes in 3 matches for the Houston SaberCats in 2022. he also played for the team’s Academy side, Rugby HTX.

Trace joins the team from Rugby HTX and signed with NOLA Gold in 2020, but did not play during the regular season. He practiced with the team and played for New Orleans RFC.

Trace attended Hopkins High School and was a multi-sport athlete playing football, as well as being the captain of the hockey and rugby teams.

He attended the University of Minnesota-Duluth from 2013-2018 earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance. He also won multiple National Championships and was the Division 2 National Player of the Year and a Collegiate All-American.

Trace also played with Metropolis RFC and helped the team advance to the USA Club 7s Nationals in 2018. He also played with Stars 7s in the 2019 Coral Coast 7s.
