Houston SaberCats Signs Drew Wild

The Houston SaberCats signed Drew Wild for the 2023 Major League Rugby season. The 22-year-old fullback/wing is 6’0″ and 185 lbs.

Drew is from New Zealand and attended Feilding High School from 2014 through 2018. He was the 1st XV captain and won the Manawatu Schools Sevens Title and the Sir Gordon Tietjen Sevens Tournament in 2018. He was also the player in the latter tournament in 2017. In 2017 the team advanced to the finals of Central North Island and the National Co-ed Finals.

Drew played club rugby for the Feilding Yellows and Mitre 10 Cup/Bunnings National Provincial Championship for the Manawatu Turbos since 2019. He has played in 29 matches, 16 as a starter, and scored 42 points with his booming boot, achieved earlier from playing soccer. In 2021 he also played for the New Zealand Barbarians in one match.

When he is not playing rugby, he is interested in building and in hunting.
