NOLA Gold Signs Garrald McDowell

NOLA Gold Rugby signed Garrald McDowell for the 2023 Major League Rugby season. The 28-year-old loosehead prop is 6’1″ and 275 lbs.

Garrald is from Covington, Louisiana, and attended Covington High School where he played varsity football. He attended Ole Miss from 2014 through 2017 and played football as a defensive end.

Garrald played professional football for the Calgary Stampeders in the Canadian Football League. The crossover athlete switched to rugby in 2020 playing with the Colorado XOs, currently American Raptors, playing with them through 2022. During the Fall 2022 season, he played with NOLA Gold Academy in the American Rugby Premiership.
