The Chicago Hounds Signs Sam Peri

The Chicago Hounds signed Sam Peri for the 2023 Major League Rugby season.  The 28-year-old lock (29 in March) is 6’6″ and 235 lbs.

Sam played 22 minutes in two matches for the LA Giltinis during the 2022 MLR regular season and also played for the team’s Academy side. He beat one defender on his two carries and gained 10 meters (5 meters per carry) and scored a seven-point try.

In 2021 he played for Rugby ATL’s Academy side, Pathway 404.

He played in San Diego in 2018, the first year of Major League Rugby. The lock earned three caps for the Legion and played 145 minutes.

Sam is from Moraga, California, and played in the San Francisco Bay area for Lamorinda Rugby Club, where he won a state high school championship over Jesuit High School in 2012. He was also a High School All-American in both rugby sevens and fifteens and played in the Rosslyn Park 7s in the U.K. in 2012.

He attended the University of Arizona from 2012 to 2016, playing for the D1A Arizona Wildcats. In 2018 he played professionally for San Diego Legion, playing 145 minutes in 3 matches, including one start.

Sam also played for San Francisco Golden Gate in the Pacific Rugby Premiership, 404 Rugby, and with Rugby ATL in the preseason. Currently, he plays for the Santa Monica Dolphins and the LA Giltinis Academy.
