The Utah Warriors signed Takaji Young Yen for the 2023 Major League Rugby season. The 23-year-old tighthead prop was born in Utah and grew up in Māngere, New Zealand.
Takaji attended Kings College and played rugby for the team’s 1st XV. In 2015 he was a member of the Blues Under-18s development squad and also played for New Zealand Secondary Schools.
Takaji attends the University of Auckland – Waipapa Taumata Rau and plays rugby for the University, as well as for Auckland B’s wider training group. In 2021 he played two matches for New Zealand Universities.
The kiwi prop started all 4 games for the Provo Trappers, who won this year’s Crossroads Cup.
