NOLA Gold Signs Christian Olney

NOLA Gold signed Christian Olney for the 2023 Major League Rugby season. The 23-year-old wing/fullback (24 in May) is 6’2″ and 200 lbs.

Christian is from Fort Wayne, Indiana. He played youth rugby for the Leo Lions Rugby Club, as well as soccer, and basketball. He attended Carroll High School from 2014 through his graduation in 2018. While there, he helped the rugby team win two state championships and was the team captain his senior year. He also was the class President in 2014 and 2016, and the Vice-President in 20165, and 2017.

Christian enrolled at Ohio State University in 2018 through his graduation in 2021 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Exercise Science/Pre-Physical Therapy Studies. He did not play rugby his Freshman year but helped the rugby team win the Big Ten Championship while playing.

He was selected in the third round of the 2022 MLR Collegiate Draft by NOLA Gold Rugby and played with the Academy team in the American Rugby  Premiership during the Fall of 2022.
