San Diego Legion signed Shilo Klein for the 2023 Major League Rugby season. The 23-year-old hooker (24 in May) is 5’11” and 235 lbs.
Shilo was born in Sacramento, California, and raised in Christchurch, New Zealand. He attended St. Andrews College and is studying Commerce at the University of Canterbury.
Shilo played for the New Zealand Schools team in 2017 and for the New Zealand Under-20s from 2018 to 2019, playing 5 matches in the Junior World Rugby U20s Championship.
He played with Canterbury Uner-19s and the team was runners-up at the Jock Hobbs Memorial U19s Tournament. From 2019 through 2022 he played 24 matches, starting 9, and scoring 5 tries in the Mitre 10/Bunnings National Provincial Championship. He also has made 5 appearances and scored one try for the Crusaders during the 2021-2022 Super Rugby Pacific season.
