New England Free Jacks Signs Ethan Fryer

The New England Free Jacks signed Ethan Fryer for the 2023 Major League Rugby season. The 20-year-old flanker (21 in May) is 6’2″ and 210 lbs.

Ethan’s performance on the training squad and for the Independents earned him a contract for 2023.

Ethan is from Issaquah, Washington, but has dual U.S. and Canadian citizenship as his father is from Ontario and grew up in Newfoundland.

Ethan attended Issaquah High School and played rugby for the Eastside Lions, NAAS RFC, and helped the Washington Loggers win the 2019 Vancouver Sevens in 2019.

He played for the USA Stripes against the USA Stars in 2019 and the 2019 Boys High School All-Americans U18s Can-Am Series. He also played for the Canada U20s Trophy squad for a two-match exhibition series in Portugal, joined the Pacific Pride, Canada’s Development team for 2020-2021, and played in the Coastal Cup in 2021.

Ethan played for the New England Independents against the Toronto Arrows Senior Academy side on March 18, 2022.
