New England Free Jacks Signs Spencer Jones

The  New England Free Jacks signed Spencer Jones for the 2023 Major League Rugby season. The 25-year-old center is 6’1″, and 215 lbs. He previously played for the Toronto Arrows from 2019 through 2022.

Spencer played 529 minutes in 8 matches, starting 7, and scored 3 tries for the Arrows in 2022.

In 2021 he played 515 minutes in 9 matches, starting 5, and scored 8 points (1 conversion and 2 penalty goals).  During the 2019 season, he played in 16 of the team’s 17 games, however, he was injured in 2020 and did not play in the truncated regular season.

Jones was born in Canada but grew up in Cambridge, New Zealand. He attended the University of Waikato from 2016-2018 pursuing a BMSC Degree.

In New Zealand, he played for the Hamilton Old Boys and was part of the Waikato Development squad. In 2018 he played for the Austin Blacks and for Westshore in the British Columbia CDI Premier League.

Jones has earned 6 caps for Canada since making his international debut against the United States on September 4, 2021.
