Utah Warriors Cliven Loubster 2023 Profile

The Utah Warriors re-signed Namibian international Cliven Loubser for the 2023 Major League Rugby season. The 25-year-old flyhalf/fullback (26 in February) is 5’9″ and 188 lbs.

Cliven played 738 minutes in 11 matches, starting 9, and scored 61 points (2 tries, 15 conversions, 7 penalty goals) for the Utah Warriors in 2022. He also played for Namibia during the November internationals.

Cliven played 503 minutes in 8 matches, starting 6, and scored 14 points (2 tries and 2 conversions).

Cliven was born in Rehoboth, Namibia, and attended Dr. Lemmer High School, as well as Windhoek Gymnasium Private School. He also went to the University of Pretoria and played for the UP Tuks in the Varsity Cup.

Cliven played for the Eastern Province U19s in 2016 and in 2017 for the Sharks U21s. He also played in two World Rugby U20s Trophy tournaments.

In 2017 he made his senior test debut for Namibia against Russia at Montevideo, Uruguay on 14 September, starting in two 2019 Rugby World Cup matches against Italy and South Africa. He earned his 24th cap after the November 2022 internationals. He also played for the Blue Bulls U21s in 2018.

In 2020 he played for Yorkshire Carnegie, which is now Leeds Tykes in the RFU Championship, and now joins the Utah Warriors for 2021.
