San Diego Legion re-signed Thomas Morani for the 2023 Major League Rugby season. The 27-year-old center is 5’9″ and 195 lbs.
Thomas played 578 minutes in 9 matches, starting 8, and scored 2 tries for San Diego Legion in 2022.
He initially re-signed for the 2021 MLR season with the Houston SaberCats but was loaned to Old Glory DC from the Houston SaberCats before playing the rest of the season for the Legion. He played in the preseason with the SaberCats and played 240 minutes in three starts with Old Glory DC. After arriving in San Diego, he played 469 minutes in 7 starts, scoring 2 tries.
Thomas joined the Houston SaberCats in 2020 and played 110 minutes in his two starts. he was re-signed by the team but did not play in any regular-season matches before being released from his contract. This made him available to Old Glory DC, who needed a center due to team injuries.
Thomas is from Miami, Florida, and grew up in Buenas Aires, Argentina. He played Top-12 team outside the center for CUBA (the Club University of Buenas Aires) at least since 2016. He attended the University’s Business and Social Sciences in 2016 and projects to graduate in 2022.
He played rugby with CUBA with former SaberCats teammate Nicolás Solveyra, a prop, and Tomas De La Vega, a flanker, who plays for the Toronto Arrows.
