The Utah Warriors re-signed Ratu Veremalua Taukanoa Vugakoto (aka Tuvere) for the 2023 Major League Rugby season. The 24-year-old hooker (25 at the end of December) is 6’1″ and 255 lbs.
Tuvere played 673 minutes in 15 matches, starting 7, and scored 3 tries for the Utah Warriors in 2022. He played 647 minutes in 16 matches, starting 8, and scored 2 tries for the Utah Warriors in 2021, and started all five matches, playing 371 minutes, and scored one try during the COVID-19-shortened 2020 MLR season.
Tuvere is from Daiviqele Village in Kadavu, Fiji, and attended Nelson Boys College in Sigatoka.
He was the captain of Fiji’s U20s and has played for the Fiji National Team 10 times, starting 3, and scoring one try. He made his debut for Fiji against Samoa on June 9, 2018, and his last match was at the 2019 Rugby World Cup against Georgia on October 3.
Veremalua has also played for the Fiji Warriors, Nadroga Rugby, Suva Rugby, Fijian Drua, and the Global Rapid Rugby’s Fijian Latui. On November 16, 2019, he played with the Flying Fijians against the Barbarians.
