The Utah Warriors re-signed Elijah Hayes for the 2023 Major League Rugby season. He was the 19th selection in the 2020 Major League Rugby Collegiate Draft. The 25-year-old prop is 6’3″ and 265 lbs.
Elijah played 31 minutes in one match for the Utah Warriors in 2022. He played during preseason for the Utah Warriors but played with the Warrior Selects during the Fall of 2020 and Spring of 2021. He attended a nine-week USA high-performance camp and played with the USA U23s Academy Team this Fall. That led to his selection for the USA Select XV tour to Uruguay in October.
Elijah is from Atlanta, Georgia, and moved to Destrehan, Louisiana as a youth. He attended Destrehan High School where he was a standout football player and played rugby his senior year. Following his high school graduation, he attended Southeastern Louisiana University and continued to play football as an offensive lineman. He appeared in nine games of Lions at guard as a Freshman. He then transferred to Iowa Central Community College in the Fall of 2018 and helped the team win the D1AA National Championship.
