Old Glory DC signed Nic Souchon for the 2023 Major League Rugby season. The 25-year-old hooker is 5’11” and 220 lbs.
Nic grew up in Paeroa, New Zealand. He played youth rugby for Thames Rugby Club and was the team’s captain at the 2010 Roller Mills tournament. From 2011 through 2015 he attended Hamilton Boys High School as a boarding student and played rugby.
He continued his education at Lincoln University on an undergraduate and graduate rugby scholarship and helped the team win two championships. In 2019 he was the team’s captain and helped them advance to the Championship Final. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Materials, and Supply Chain Management after attending from 2016 through 2018, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Business and Commerce in 2019.
Nic played rugby for the Chiefs Under-18s, Canterbury Under-19s, the Crusader Knights, the Cantabrians Under-20s (2017), and New Zealand Universities (2019).
He played Mitre 10/Bunnings National Provincial Championship rugby two matches with Canterbury in 2018, six with Otago in 1019, and five with Bay of Plenty in 2020/2022. He also played rugby with the China Lions in a March 2020 exhibition match against Bay of Plenty and New Zealand Club rugby with Tauranga Sports.
In addition to rugby, Nic has been employed as a Grower Services Representative for an Avocado company.
