The Seattle Seawolves has South African Mzamo Majola returning for the second year of a three-year contract that takes him through the 2024 Major League Rugby season. The 27-year-old loosehead prop (28 in February) is 6’0″ and 255 lbs.
Mzamo played 1252 minutes in 17 starts and scored 2 tries for the MLR Shield Finalists, Seattle Seawolves in 2022.
Mzamo is from Durban, Kwa Zulu Natal, South Africa, where he attended Westville Boys High School and Varsity College, Durban North at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. He also attended IMM Graduate School in KwaZulu-Natal, majoring in Marketing from 2019-2021.
He played rugby while at Westville Boys High School and played age-grade through Super Rugby for the Sharks since 2013. He represented the Sharks U18 in South Africa’s premier high school competition, Craven Week, in 2013, and after high school, he joined the Sharks Academy and started in all 13 matches that season at loosehead prop and reached the semi-final of the 2014 U19 Provincial Championship.
While at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, he played for the Sharks XV in the Vodacom Cup, debuting for them in 2015 against Western Province. He was selected to South Africa’s U20 squad, and his performance following a tour to Argentina led to his inclusion in the 2015 World Rugby Under 20 Championship, where he made four appearances throughout the World Rugby U20s Championship third-place finish.
Mzamo also played for the Sharks U21 program and in their Currie Cup squad (19 appearances). He played in the Pro14 competition with the Southern Kings in 2017 before playing on their Super Rugby team. He returned to the Sharks for the Currie Cup, Super Rugby, Super Rugby South Africa, and the Pro14 Rainbow Cup South Africa through 2021.
His senior rugby resume includes making 19 Currie Cup appearances, including 3 starts, playing once in the Pro14 Rainbow Cup, 5 times in Super Rugby SA matches, 15 matches with 8 starts in Super Rugby, 9 matches in the SuperSport Rugby Challenge (4 starts), 2 Pro 14 matches, 10 Provincial Cup matches (5 starts), and 2 Vodacom Cup matches.
