Old Glory DC Tevita Naqali 2023 Profile

Old Glory DC re-signed Tevita Naqali for the 2023 Major League Rugby season. The 29-year-old Fijian lock/blindside flanker/No8 (30 in June) is 6’6″ and 255 lbs.

Tevita played 804 minutes in 11 starts and scored 2 tries for Old Glory in 2022. He also played for White Plains in the American Rugby Premiership in the Fall.

During the 2021 MLR season, Tevita appeared in 14 matches (12 starts), playing 962 minutes, scoring two tries, having 124 ball carries for 514 meters, making 107 successful tackles, and arriving at 264 rucks. In the covid-19 shortened 2000 season, he played all 400 minutes in his 5 starts.

Tevita is from Nadroga, Fiji, and attended Suva Grammar School where he studied Technical Science. He then attended Fiji National University where he graduated in 2011 with a degree in telecommunication and networking.

Tevita played for Fiji Bati in 2010 and was selected for the U18s tour to Australia. From 2011-2016 he played for the Covenant Brothers. For the first year, he played with the U20s before moving to the Senior side the following year. He also played for the Suva Provincial Club.

Tevita played for the Fijian Drua for two seasons since 2018 in the Australian National Rugby Championship. He also played for Valladolid Rugby Asociación Club in Spain in the Division de Honor de Rugby in 2019, as well as for Fijian Latui which was part of the Global Rapid Rugby Showcase Series.
