San Diego Legion signed Filimoni Waqainabette for the 2023 Major League Rugby season. The 26-year-old center is 6’4” and 230 lbs.
He was born in Fiji and attended Burnside High School. He’s played rugby with Northcote, Canterbury, and in 2019 was selected for the Swire Shipping Fiji Warriors in the World Rugby Pacific Challenge.
In 2020 he played with the Panasonic Wild Knights and the Shimizu Blue Sharks.
Waqainabete joins the Legion from Naitasiri Rugby Club in Fiji where he was the vice-captain and a key performer.
