Rugby New York Signs Hamish Dalzell

Rugby New York signed Hamish Dalzell for the 2023 Major League Rugby season. The 26-year-old lock (27 in January) is 6’7″ and 262 lbs.

Hamish is from a sheep-farming family in Coalgate, New Zealand, about 40 minutes from Christchurch. He also comes from a rugby family.

Hamish played rugby for Lincoln University, the College Rifles RFC, made 10 appearances for the New Zealand Under-20s between 2015 and 2016 and played for New Zealand Universities in 2018.

He played provincial rugby for Canterbury between 2016 and 2018 and again in 2021. He also played in the National Provincial Championship for Auckland in 2020 and 2022. In 2018 and in 2022 he played for the Crusaders, making 2 appearances. In 2020 he also played one match for the Panasonic Wild Knights, before COVID-19 restrictions had him returning home.
