Old Glory DC signed Canadian international, Gradyn Bowd for the 2023 Major League Rugby season. The 30-year-old flyhalf is 5’10” and 216 lbs.
Gradyn is from Red Deer, Alberta, Canada, and was a multi-sport athlete in high school at Lindsay Thurber Comprehensive. He was on cross country, tennis, track and field, volleyball, handball, basketball, badminton, and rugby teams. In badminton and rugby, he was on the provincial teams twice, and was named the MVP. He also was co-MVP in basketball and won the Raider Award in handball.
He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Victoria, where he was a four-year captain of the rugby team. The team won the Canadian Universities Silver medal in the 2017-2018 season and the following year, the Bronze medal, and played in the British Columbia Premier League.
Gradyn also played rugby for the Red Deer Titans, the Alberta Under 16s, and Under 18s, Prairie Wolfpack, Sunnybank Colts (Australia), Vancouver Rowing Club, and Castaway Warriors.
He represented Canada for the Under 20s at the World Rugby Trophy Competition in 2011-2012, and made his debut with the Canada National Team against Brazil at Pacaembu on March 3, 2017. He has made 10 test appearances, and after playing for Canada A against Chile and Brazil A teams in October has been named for the Canada November internationals tests against the Netherlands and Namibia.
