San Diego Legion re-signed Nathan Sylvia for his sixth Major League Rugby season for 2023. The 28-year-old prop (29 in March) is 6’2″ and 260 lbs.
Nathan played 768 minutes in 15 matches, starting 10 in the 2022 season. He also was the 19th MLR player to earn 50 caps, with his cap total at 51. After the season, he attended Eagles camp and was selected for the USA Falcons tour to South Africa, where he played against the Pumas.
Nathan played 382 minutes in 10 matches, starting 4 times in 2021. He played in 4 of the team’s 5 matches, including 2 as a starter, in 2020. In 2019 he played in 16 matches, starting 5 times, and playing 670 minutes. He carried the ball 48 times for 182 meters and made 110 tackles. In 2018 he played 297 minutes in 6 matches, starting 4, and scored 2 tries.
Nathan is from Rancho Penasquitos a San Diego neighborhood. He attended Mt Carmel High School where he played football and graduated in 2012.
Nathan then attended Cal Poly where he excelled playing rugby and was named as a 2016 USA Rugby Collegiate All-American Honorable Mention. He was among several D1A Rugby players to train with the ACT Brumbies in Canberra, Australia in 2016. While there, he played with Randwick Rugby Club Under-20s.
In 2018 Nathan played with San Francisco Golden Gate Rugby Club in the Pacific Rugby Premiership prior to joining the San Diego Legion for their inaugural Major League Rugby season.
