NOLA Gold Re-Signs Alex Lopeti

NOLA Gold re-signed Alex Lopeti for the 2023 Major League Rugby season. The 23-year-old hooker (24 in April) is 5’10” and 230 lbs.

Alex played 110 minutes in 4 matches for NOLA Gold in 2022. He toured Colombia with the USA South Panthers and was selected for the USA Falcons tour to Uruguay, where he played against both Uruguay XV and Argentina XV.

Alex is from Hayward, California, and attended Tennyson High School. He played football as a defensive end and defensive tackle. He also played rugby for Pennisula Green Rugby Club.

After graduating high school in 2018, he attended Chabot College, where he continued to play football in 2018 and 2019.

Alex played rugby for Life West and attended the USA U23 High-Performance Pathway 9-week camp in Glendale, Colorado in 2021. He also was on the USA Select XV for the Americas Pacific Challenge in 2021. Alex played in the Rugby Tens Championship in Lisbon, Portugal for the H. Badgers and played for the Austin Gilgronis Outlaws Academy in the Fall of 2021.

Alex is the younger brother of the USA National Team and Seattle Seawolves center, Tevita Lopeti.
