New England Free Jacks Signs Conor Young

The New England Free jacks signed Conor Young for the 2023 Major League Rugby season. The 27-year-old prop is 6’1″ and 250 lbs.

Conor is from Yamba, New South Wales, Australia, and attended Nudgee College before going to Wollongong University from 2014 through 2018.

Conor is Canadian eligible and played for Canada Under 20s in the 2015 World Rugby Trophy competition in Lisbon, Portugal.

Conor has played for Southern Districts in 53 matches, starting 33, in the New South Wales Shute Shield since 2015 and also played for the Greater Sydney Rams three times in the 2017-2018 National Rugby Championship.

He also excelled in the Scottish Super 6, playing for the Southern Knights, and recently earned selection to the wider Reds Super Rugby squad.

Conor is ready and chomping at the bit to bolster the Jacks’ front row with his experience and versatility, as well as capitalize on the exciting opportunity of joining a spirited squad here in Quincy. “Couldn’t be more excited to get involved with the Free Jacks and build on their success over the last few years” said Young. “Everything I’ve seen tells me that I’m entering a unique and special environment. Can’t wait to get stuck in and bring home an MLR title.”

Outside of rugby, Conor is an avid golfer, outdoorsman, and fisherman, and is excited to explore all that New England has to offer.
