Seattle Seawolves Obtains Mike Gieselman from Utah Warriors

The Seattle Seawolves obtained Mike Gieselman from the Utah Warriors in exchange for salary cap space in 2023. The 26-year-old flanker (27 in January) is 6’2″ and 220 lbs.

Mike played in 26 matches, starting 4, since his MLR debut in 2021. During the 2021 season for the Warriors, he played 286 minutes in 14 matches, 1 as a starter.

He played with the Warrior Selects during Fall 2020 before moving from the team’s training squad to sign an MLR contract. He also played in a Utah Warriors preseason match against Rugby ATL.

During the 2019 exhibition season, he played for the New England Free Jacks against the Utah Warriors and the Connacht Eagles in the Cara Cup. Following the season, he moved to Texas and played with Grand Prairie Mavericks. This past summer, he moved to Utah setting him up to play with the Warrior Selects.

Mike is from Commerce Township, Michigan. He attended Walled Lake Northern High School and played football and lacrosse. Following his graduation, he attended Michigan State from 2014-18, earning a degree in Marketing. At Michigan State, he was Academic All-American in 2017-2018 and played rugby, as well as involved in the Weightlifting Association. 

Mike was selected for the AIG Men’s Collegiate All-American Identification Camp in Chula Vista in 2018. He was also selected, but unavailable for the Legacy Rugby College All-Star squad which played the Ohio College All-Stars in 2017. 

Mike played club rugby with the Detroit Tradesmen in 2018 and then joined the NE Free Jacks in 2019 for their exhibition season. He then moved to Texas and in 2020 to Utah.
